Setting aside their differences finally, Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) founder Shivpal Singh Yadav on Thursday announced merger with nephew Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP). He also confirmed that the two leaders will contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections together.
While speaking to media, Shivpal Yadav said, “We have merged Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) into Samajwadi Party. In 2024, we will fight unitedly.”
“From today, there will be Samajwadi Party flag (on the car),” he added
His comments came after Akhilesh Yadav presented his party’s flag to Shivpal Singh Yadav. Both the leaders sat together in Saifai in Etawah district, where Akhilesh Yadav presented his party’s flag to his uncle.
Later, they posted photographs of the event on Twitter.
A Samajwadi Party flag was also put on Shivpal Singh Yadav’s car by the party’s workers confirming the coming together of the two parties.
Amid ups and downs in their relations, ‘chacha-bhatija’ (Shivpal Yadav and nephew Akhilesh Yadav) came together to ensure the victory of Dimple Yadav in the bypoll necessitated after the demise of SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav.
According to latest Election Commission data, Akhilesh’s wife and SP candidate Dimple Yadav has gained a massive lead of over two lakh votes in the Mainpuri Lok Sabha bypoll.
