Akshay Kumar-starrer Samrat Prithviraj, which was former Miss World Manushi Chhillar’s Bollywood debut as well has failed to live up to expectations at the box office. On the contrary, Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhoolaiya 2, a horror comedy, also starring Kiara Advani and Tabu in pivotal roles, which released ahead of Samrat Prithviraj is still going strong at the box office.
Earlier today, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh had shared the film’s Week 2 business, stating that the Akshay Kumar- starrer film has “almost exhausted its run”at ticket windows. The film’s dismal performacne coupled with releases like Top Gun: Maverick and Jurassic World Dominion seems to have derailed the epic saga based on the Braj language poem Prithviraj Raso.
Adarsh tweeted, “#SamratPrithviraj has almost exhausted its run… [Week 2] Fri 1.50 cr, Sat 2.50 cr, Sun 3.25 cr, Mon 1.05 cr, Tue 95 lacs, Wed 90 lacs, Thu 80 lacs. Total: ₹ 66 cr. #India biz.” He added that while the film had garnered Rs 55.05 crore on Week 1, in its second week it managed only Rs 10.95 crore bringing it total to only Rs 66 crore at the box office.
On the other hand, as per Adarsh, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has continued with its “winning streak”. He tweeted, “#BhoolBhulaiyaa2 continues its winning streak… Collects close to ₹ 13 cr in Week 4, which speaks of its exceptional hold… [Week 4] Fri 1.56 cr, Sat 3.01 cr, Sun 3.45 cr, Mon 1.30 cr, Tue 1.29 cr, Wed 1.26 cr, Thu 1.12 cr. Total: ₹ 176.14 cr. #India biz.”
Notably, while Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 earned makers Rs 92.05 crore on its first week alone, it went on to garner Rs 49.70 crore, Rs 21.40 crore, Rs 12.99 crore in the three consecutive weeks to bring the film’s total earning at Rs 176.14 crore making it a blockbuster at the box office.
Meanwhile, small budget film Janhit Mein Jaari has packed in a low total on Week 2, with Rs 3.34 crore in business. The film starts Nushrratt Bharuccha and Anud Singh Dhaka in lead roles. Major too continues its run with a total of Rs 10.69 crore in nett business at ticket windows.
