Prashant Kishor, a political strategist-turned-activist, has announced his new political party will lift the liquor ban in Bihar “within an hour” if it comes to power.
Prashant Kishor has announced that his Jan Suraaj party would repeal the liquor ban “within an hour” if it came to power, ahead of launching the party on October 2.
Kishor denounced the current ban on liquor as inefficient. It has encouraged home deliveries and has caused the state to lose Rs 20,000 crore in excise revenue.
Kishor Criticizes Liquor Ban, Accuses Politicians Of Profiting From Illegal Trade
The 47-year-old leader has accused politicians and bureaucrats of money-making in the shadow liquor trade.
Kishore said he believed in “politics of merit”, adding that he would go out openly against prohibition, compared to the other parties which are keeping mum on the issue due to the probable loss of women’s votes.
Kishor Blames Bihar Leaders For State’s Issues
Kishor blamed Nitish Kumar and his predecessor Lalu Prasad for Bihar’s troubles. He even blamed Congress and the BJP.
Kishor declared that his party, Jan Suraaj, launched on October 2, will contest all 243 seats in the Bihar Assembly elections next year.
Kishor said, “Jan Suraaj will contest all 243 seats, not a single seat less”.
When he was in his previous position, he would have to deal with poll campaigns for state’s CM Nitish Kumar of Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, or AAP founder Arvind Kejriwal.
