The first phase of polling in Bihar’s Vaishali district was completed on November 6. Vote counting will take place on November 14, after the second phase scheduled for November 11. The district administration has arranged two counting centres for its eight assembly constituencies, where the EVMs are securely stored.

Meanwhile, a video from the RN College counting centre has gone viral on social media, alleging that the CCTV camera installed to monitor the EVMs in the Mahnar-129 assembly constituency has been switched off.

RJD posted the Video of Strong room citing security Lapses

RJD shared a video on its Instagram page, claiming that something suspicious happened in the strong room in Hajipur, Vaishali district. The video shows a pickup van entering the area at night. It is also alleged that the CCTV cameras were switched off when the vehicle left. In the video, one large CCTV screen appears to be off while the others are on. RJD mentioned these claims in the post shared on Instagram.

“In the strong room in Hajipur, Vaishali district, CCTV cameras from various assembly constituencies are turned off one by one. A pickup van enters and exits at midnight. This is happening.” They have tagged the Election Commission of India and asked for a response.

Bihar Strong Room CCTV : ‘EVM Tampering’

RJD shared a video claiming that the CCTV cameras were turned off to change the vote count. The person who recorded the video questioned why vehicles were moving inside the counting centre. The party posted this video on social media, expressing worry that switching off the CCTV could allow tampering with the EVMs and affect the election results.

The JDU state president is contesting from the Mahnar assembly seat against RJD’s E. Ravindra Singh. The release of this video has made RJD question the role of the administration.

The viral video has also created a buzz among officials, and the SDM has said that the matter will be properly investigated.
