During an interview with Elon Musk on X, Donald Trump claimed that Joe Biden was forced to drop out of the US Presidential race due to what he called a ‘coup.’ Trump, stated, ‘I beat Biden so badly in the debate that he was forced out of the race—one of the greatest debate performances ever. Biden’s exit, it was a coup.’
Musk supported Trump’s claim, saying, ‘They took him behind a shed and shot him.’ Trump also discussed the assassination attempt he survived last month, saying, ‘I knew right away it was a bullet. I knew it was at my ear. For those who don’t believe in God, I think we all need to start thinking about that.’
Trump had no evidence, as per usual, for his claim that Russia would not have invaded Ukraine if he were still president. He praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un—all autocrats—as being at the top of their game.’ He fumed, too, that Vice President Kamala Harris had taken the place of Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket.
He said that Kamala Harris hasn’t been interviewed since this whole scam started.’ While at one point Trump was ahead of Biden in many of the key battleground state polls critical to the Nov. 5 election, he now trails Harris in some of those same states.
Trump’s Record-Breaking Interview
The interview faced technical difficulties before it even started, which limited the number of users who could tune in. Despite the issues, more than 1 million people were listening when the conversation finally began, according to a counter on X.
Trump congratulated Musk on the high number of viewers, saying, ‘Congratulations on breaking every record in the book,’ a reference to the number of people who tried to watch their conversation. The Trump campaign has called it the ‘interview of the century,’ aiming to boost Trump’s campaign as his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, has gained momentum in the polls with energetic rallies.
Musk, previewed the interview on Sunday, calling it ‘unscripted with no limits on subject matter, so should be highly entertaining’ Trump, who frequently posts on his Truth Social platform, made his first post on X in over a year on Monday ahead of the interview, sharing a campaign video where he portrayed himself as a victim of forces trying to ‘destroy’ the United States.
