Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 becomes Kartik Aaryan’s biggest opener, film collects more than Akshay Kumar’s Bachchhan Paandey on Day 1

Kangana Ranaut congratulated the team of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 earlier today, claiming that the film ended Bollywood’s “dry spell”. Of late, many Hindi movies haven’t been able to amass as many box office collections as South films like RRR, KGF: Chapter 2, Pushpa and more. Even Akshay Kumar’s Bachchhan Paandey, which was touted to be Khiladi Kumar’s next big comedy thriller, did not mint substantial amounts.
However, Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which hit the screens on Friday, May 20, has now become the biggest opener of 2022, and collected more than what Bachchhan Paandey earned on its Day 1 at the box office.
A standalone sequel to Akshay Kumar’s 2007, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 isn’t just the Hindi film industry’s biggest opening movie but has now also become Kartik’s biggest Day 1 collection.
In the past, the actor’s 2020 film, Love Aaj Kal, which was directed by Imtiaz Ali, collected over Rs 12.40 crore, despite the romantic drama losing momentum after some time. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 earned over Rs 14.11 crore on Day 1, which is a huge feat compared to the actor’s previous films.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the news on Twitter and mentioned the Day 1 collections of Kartik’s top five films. “‘BB2’ IS KARTIK AARYAN’S BIGGEST OPENER… #KartikAaryan versus #KartikAaryan… *Day 1* biz…2022: #BhoolBhulaiyaa2 ₹ 14.11 cr 2020: #LoveAajKal ₹ 12.40 cr 2019: #PatiPatniAurWoh ₹ 9.10 cr 2019: #LukaChuppi ₹ 8.01 cr 2015: #PyaarKaPunchnama2 ₹ 6.80 cr,” his tweet read.
Bachchhan Paandey‘s Day 1 box office collection was Rs 13.25 crore and Alia Bhatt’s hit film, Gangubai Kathiawadi, collected over Rs 10.50 crore.
However, the Day 1 box office collection of Kartik’s film is nowhere near dubbed Hindi versions of KGF: Chapter 2 and RRR, which raked in Rs 53.95 crore and Rs 20.07 crore, respectively.
