Bengaluru Stampede: Karnataka Cabinet Approves Probe Panel’s Report; RCB, Cops To Face Action

In a major development following the tragic stampede on June 4, 2025, during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL victory celebrations, the Karnataka Cabinet has endorsed the findings of the Justice John Michael D’Cunha judicial commission. According to various reports, action will be taken against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the police, as per the commission’s recommendations. The incident claimed 11 lives and injured approximately 50 people outside Chinnaswamy Stadium.

There was an inquiry which was done after the Bengaluru stampede following which it revealed that there were many lapses in crowd management and planning before the victory celebration was held. A complete report was formed after many hearings and inspections from different witnesses, government officials and police. The report revealed that not only RCB but the senior police officers will also come under strict scrutiny.

According to ANI, “A parent of the victim of the stampede that killed 11 persons near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on 4th June, has filed a complaint in Commercial Street Police Station today regarding the theft of gold ornaments that were on the body of the victim when she was taken inside the post-mortem section for autopsy.”

On June 3, 2025 Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title by defeating Punjab Kings following which a victory celebration was held in the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
