The world’s first CNG motorcycle, the Bajaj Freedom 125, was launched recently in India. We’ve received numerous questions about the bike, including inquiries about its safety, range, variants, features, and price. Therefore, we’ve decided to address all these questions.

1. Where is the CNG tank actually placed?

The Bajaj Freedom 125 comes with a 2kg CNG tank, which is located under the seat of the motorcycle. Bajaj Auto has developed the Freedom 125 from the ground up, ensuring that the factory-fitted CNG tank is fully integrated with the bike.

2. How is the CNG tank protected?

The Bajaj Freedom 125 is built on a trellis frame, which securely houses the CNG tank, providing a protective enclosure. Bajaj Auto asserts that the Freedom 125 has undergone extensive and rigorous safety testing, focusing on the durability of the CNG kit. The motorcycle has been subjected to various impact tests, including frontal, rear, and side collisions, as well as extreme scenarios like being run over by a truck and pendulum impact assessments. Additionally, the CNG tank has received official certification from the Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organization (PESO), ensuring it meets government safety standards.

3. How much is the range?

The Bajaj Freedom 125 is equipped with both a 2kg CNG tank and a 2-litre petrol tank. The claimed mileage is 102km/kg in CNG mode and 65km/l in petrol mode. This provides a total range of 204km on CNG and 130km on petrol, giving an overall range of 334km.

4. Does it start in CNG or petrol?

The motorcycle starts in CNG mode. A switch on the left side of the handlebar allows the rider to transition to petrol mode and back to CNG mode as desired.

5. What is the price?

The Bajaj Freedom 125 is available in three variants with the following ex-showroom prices:
– NG04 Drum – Rs 95,000
– NG04 Drum LED – Rs 1.05 lakh
– NG04 Disc LED – Rs 1.10 lakh
