Israel has been a reliable and important defence partner for India, supplying advanced weapons and technology over the years. Taking this partnership forward, Pune-based Belrise Industries has teamed up with Israel’s Plasan Sasa to jointly manufacture autonomous electric military vehicle components in India.
As part of this strategic partnership, Plasan will develop the All-Terrain Electric Mission Module (ATEMM) according to the needs of the Indian Army. ATEMM is a 2×2 electric-powered unmanned ground vehicle designed to operate on different terrains while improving payload capacity, energy availability, survivability and overall mobility.
What ATEMM can do: Power, payload and flexibility
According to The Defense Post, the ATEMM platform is about 2 metres (7 feet) long and can be used either as a standalone vehicle or as a trailer attached to other vehicles. One of its key features is its ability to supply power, up to 50 kilowatts per hour, to other vehicles or military equipment in the field.
The system is also modular, meaning it can be combined with additional units. When connected with other modules, ATEMM can be transformed into a fully electric 4×4 or 8×8 unmanned vehicle. In this advanced configuration, it can deliver power equal to 800 horsepower and carry a heavy payload of more than 2000 kilograms, making it suitable for demanding military operations.
Made in India, powered by Israeli technology
Speaking about the collaboration, Swastid Badwe, Chief of Staff at Belrise Industries, said the partnership marks an important step in bringing world-class defence technology to India. He added that Belrise’s strong manufacturing capabilities combined with Plasan’s innovation will help meet the changing needs of the Indian Armed Forces.
This agreement builds on an earlier partnership formed in late December, aimed at expanding defence manufacturing and industrial growth in India. Under this arrangement, Plasan will share its expertise in armour systems, vehicle survivability and advanced defence automotive technologies, with a focus on technology transfer and local production.
Belrise Industries is known for making chassis parts, suspension systems and automotive components for two-wheelers, passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. Plasan is a global leader in vehicle protection and survivability solutions, supplying defence systems to armed forces around the world. Plasan’s Vice President for Marketing and Business Development, Gilad Ariav, said the partnership will help meet India’s defence needs while also strengthening Plasan’s global supply chain through cost-effective manufacturing in India.
The growing collaboration reflects the strong and expanding India-Israel relationship. The Indian Embassy in Israel recently described 2025 as a milestone year for bilateral ties and expressed confidence in even closer cooperation in 2026, highlighting progress in defence cooperation, investments and trade talks.
