AAP leader Manish Sisodia, recently freed from jail after 17 months, shared a photo with his wife, saying it was “the first tea on the morning of independence.” Sisodia was granted bail by the Supreme Court yesterday in connection with alleged corruption cases related to the Delhi liquor policy.
Sharing the picture on X (formerly Twitter), Mr. Sisodia wrote, “First tea on the morning of independence… after 17 months! This freedom, guaranteed by the Constitution to all Indians, is a right to life.”
He said, “The freedom that lets us enjoy fresh air with everyone.”
Bail To Manish Sisodia Boosts AAP Ahead Of Upcoming Elections
The former Delhi deputy chief minister’s bail is a big boost for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as they head into the Haryana assembly elections in a few months and the Delhi elections early next year.
Party leaders said his release is a blow to the effort to tarnish AAP’s reputation.
The CBI arrested Mr. Manish Sisodia on February 26, 2023, and the Enforcement Directorate followed with an arrest less than two weeks later. He has now been released on bail in both cases. The Supreme Court, upset about his indefinite detention, ruled that he cannot stay in jail while waiting for an uncertain trial date.
