JAMES CAMERON ON AVATAR 2 BUDGET
James Cameron is just not ready to give out the exact number of the film’s budget. However, he did hint that the sequel’s budget is “very expensive”. Cameron apparently told Disney and 20th Century Studios executives that the sequel budget is so high that it represented “the worst business case in movie history”.
As per the director Cameron, the film has to be the third or fourth highest-grossing film in history. Giving an estimate, he said, “The worst business case in movie history. You have to be the third or fourth highest-grossing film in history. That’s your threshold. That’s your break even.”
In order for Avatar 2 to break the previous records, the film needs to overtake either Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which minted Rs $2.07 billion, or Avengers: Infinity War, which earned Rs 2.05 billion, to be in fourth or fifth slots.
