Kerala’s ruling party, CPIM, accused Governor Arif Mohammad Khan of trying to enact the agendas of the RSS and BJP in universities across the state. The Left party also alleged that the Governor is inviting only those media groups to his press meets who are “accepting the fascist attitude”.
While speaking to media, CPIM State Secretary MV Govindan Master said that for the past week, Kerala Governor’s decisions are favouring the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
He is also trying to enact their (RSS, BJP) agendas in universities,” he added.
Govindan went on to add that as a Chancellor, decisions taken by the Governor are not constitutional. All wrong decisions made by the Governor will face legal challenges. The chief minister has given a reply to Governor’s letter on Kerala Finance Minister, he said.
Further training guns at Governor AM Khan, the CPIM leader said, “The Governor restricted Malayalam media and some news channels but a group of media went to his Press meet, which is accepting the fascist attitude.”
It should be noted that Governor Khan and the Pinarayi Vijayan-led government in the state have been at loggerheads for a while now over a number of issues. The most recent clash has come following the Governor’s letter to the Kerala CM demanding the removal of state finance minister.
Earlier, the Kerala Governor had sent notices to state-appointed Vice Chancellors of at least nine universities citing irregularities in their administration. The VCs have refused to back down and in return, received show cause notices from the governor’s office.
