Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that at least 25 MLAs from the Congress party are in touch with his party, but added that he is unwilling to ‘accept Congress’ junk’ into AAP. The AAP convenor laughed off a question on whether Navjot Singh Sidhu is one of the MLAs in touch with the AAP Punjab unit.
“Many from Congress are in touch with us. But we do not want to take their junk. I assure you that if we start taking their junk, we will have 25 MLAs and two-three MPs from Congress by today evening,” he said.
Addressing a press conference ahead of Punjab Assembly elections 2022, Arvind Kejriwal refrained from disclosing the chief ministerial face of AAP in Punjab polls, but clarified that he was ‘not the CM candidate in Punjab’.
Slamming the Congress party as well as Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Kejriwal said that the present government in Punjab is crying foul that the state’s treasuries are empty. “But who emptied those treasuries? You have been in power for the past 15 years. Kejriwal knows how to fill treasuries of the state,” he assured.
We will change Punjab the way we transformed Delhi – Kejriwal
Appealing to the population of the state to give a chance to AAP, Kejriwal said – “Ek mauka AAP ko deke dekho (Give AAP a chance)… We will bring about a change in Punjab, the way we transformed Delhi. These elections are very important. We appeal to everyone to vote for the Aam Aadmi Party,” he said.
Kejriwal said that Sidhu is raising important issues, but is being suppressed by Congress high command. “He was suppressed even by Captain (Amarinder Singh),” he said. Slamming the current Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Kejriwal said that Channi is making false promises. “He promised free electricity, he promised to eradicate corruption. That has not happened. I am determined to give every free facility that a minister enjoys, to a common man in the state,” he promised.
