Arjun Kapoor’s Ek Villain Returns that also stars John Abraham, Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria, released on Friday, July 29. While the film opened to a rather slow star it went on to pick up pace over the weekend, before showing a dip in sales at ticket counters again.
On its first day, the film recorded an earning of Rs 7.05 crore. Next up, the film minted over Rs 7 crore and on Sunday, Ek Villain Returns saw an upward trend to register Rs 9 crore at the box office. The first Monday, however, the film witnessed a major dip and recorded a total collection of Rs 3.02 crore. The film’s total collection stands at Rs 26.56 crore.
However, industry experts are of the opinion that Ek Villain Returns is showing an entirely new trend at the box office. Film producer and business analyst Girish Johar took to Twitter to share that Arjun Kapoor starrer Ek Villain Returns has set an example where the audience does not care about critic reviews.
He tweeted, “So #EkVillainReturns has set a good example wherein audiences didn’t care about critics & reviews. Numbers are low but it shows some sign of BO recovery “pulse” to pre pandemic levels. Audiences, with #EVR has become less stricter, than they normally are,in post pandemic scenario.”
Meanwhile, film trade analyst Sumit Kadel recently revealed that the film is turning the tables for Arjun Kapoor. According to him, while even if the lifetime business of Ek Villain Returns remains in the Rs 40 crore bracket, it has worked better than films like anek, Jersey and Jayeshbhai Jordaar.
He tweeted, “#EkVillainReturns with a LT of ₹ 40 cr+would be an avg affair but certainly it has turned tables for #ArjunKapoor as an actor. #EVR will do 2-3 times more LT biz than films like Anek, Jayeshbhai, Jersey, Attack etc which were led by big stars. This is no small feat this year.”
