After Congress state unit President Navjot Singh Sidhu’s debacle in Punjab polls, memes featuring him and The Kapil Sharma Show‘s Archana Puran Singh went viral on Twitter. While netizens brutally trolled him for losing his seat, they also took a jibe at him for being replaced by Archana in the popular comedy show years ago.
From ‘Sidhu coming back to TKSS for his seat’ to Archana’s worried reaction and more, several memes surfaced online. And, Archana also retweeted some of the memes. The reality show personality, who was on a Twitter spree, has now reacted to her name reaching the micro-blogging site’s trending tab. Archana has also shared why she went on to share the memes.
Talking about replacing Sidhu, Archana Puran Singh told Etimes, “Not even in my wildest dream had thought that one day I’ll be sitting there and there will be so much chaos about his name and my name. Yesterday I was trending on Twitter, can you imagine. Mera kya lena dena. It could very well be that he could come back on the seat. That’s great for him. I always move on. I’ve done Comedy Circus for so many years. If this doesn’t happen something else will. We are professionals and artists, we have to do something or the other. I’ve worked with Kapil for 10 years now and it has been a great ride.”
She also spoke about the jokes and memes. “I retweeted the funny and hilarious memes on Navjot Singh Sidhu. I really loved all the jokes like the second time he has lost a seat, first time he lost to Archana Puran Singh (laugh). I like all kinds of humour. This is at my expense more than Sidhu’s. There was another ‘Archana ji aap ki Kursi khatre mein hain’. I take all these jokes with a pinch of salt,” Singh said.
For those unversed, Sidhu was seen on The Kapil Sharma Show for the first few seasons. However, his controversial remarks on the Pulwama attack had led to him being banned from the Film City in Mumbai. After the controversy, Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees and other organisations had issued a notice and the makers decided to rope in Archana for the show.
