Another J&K Congress leader Rajinder Prasad resigns from party following Ghulam Nabi Azad

Ever since Ghulam Nabi Azad left Congress, the party has witnessed multiple resignations following him, in a major setback. Following Azad’s suit, another Jammu and Kashmir Congress leader, Rajinder Prasad of Rajouri quit the party today citing a ‘coterie’ system as the reason.
“The party is today surrounded by a coterie of yes men and parachuters. As a result, they are ignorant of the general public’s reality and sorrows, which leads to this big old party’s demise,” Rajinder Prasad wrote in his resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi.
“Most significantly, the party has lost a diamond in the form of former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad Sahib, who has sizable mass support across the entire nation, whose time is known as the “Golden Era,” (in J-K) and who served as the backbone of Congress party,” Prasad’s letter further read.
Notably, as many as 20 more leaders of the District Congress Committee, Jammu North, quit the grand old party earlier today. Earlier, following Azad, six other leaders from the party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit resigned the same day. GM Saroori, Haji Abdul Rashid, Mohd Amin Bhat, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Choudhary Mohd Akram and RS Chib resigned from the primary membership of Congress in ‘support of Ghulam Nabi Azad.’
“We the 5 ex-MLAs (GM Saroori, Haji Abdul Rashid, Mohd Amin Bhat, Gulzar Ahmad Wani and Choudhary Mohd Akram) are resigning from the Congress party in support of Ghulam Nabi Azad. Now, only the JKPC president will be left alone,” GM Saroori said post the resignations.
Notably, veteran leader Ghulam Nabi Azad ended his five-decade association with the Congress on August 26. In a five-page stinging letter to Sonia Gandhi, the 73-year-old leader called the party ‘comprehensively destroyed’ and deemed party leader Rahul Gandhi responsible for ‘demolishing’ its entire consultative mechanism.
