Much was expected from Andre Russell but the Kolkata Knight Riders’ all-rounder has failed to live up to the expectations so far. He has scalped crucial wickets on occasions but has struggled with the bat. Russell was the star performer for KKR in IPL 2019, where he scored 510 runs, striking at 204.81. 

In the ongoing season, Russell has only managed 50 runs off 37 balls. He averages 12.50 in four innings and has only hit four sixes in the tournament. Keeping his past record in mind, even Russell would be disappointed with his form. KKR are slated to play at least nine more matches and surely, the cricketer would look to improve his performance going ahead.

Upset with Russell’s ongoing form, a fan suggested his wife, Jassym Lora, to travel to Dubai. “Jassym aunty please go to Dubai Russell is not in good form,” user wrote. Upset with the comment, Jassym hit back at the troll and came up with a befitting reply

Jassym is quite active on social media and often replies to fans and trolls mocking Russell for his form. The star couple had tied the knot in 2016.

KKR’s mixed IPL season

Despite sitting at the fourth spot with three wins from five matches, KKR haven’t been the most impressive team. They are still struggling for the right combination. The team management did drop Sunil Narine in the batting order but sent him ahead of Eoin Morgan. Russell’s batting position is also a talking point.

He was expected to get a promotion in IPL 2020 but that hasn’t happened in the star-studded line-up. In the bowling department, Pat Cummins has only scalped two wickets so far. He had joined KKR for Rs 15.5 crore.

The Dinesh Karthik-led side next face Kings XI Punjab in the first game of the double-header on Saturday (October 10).
