YSR EBC (Economically Backward Classes) Nestham is the State government taking another step forward for the welfare of women. This scheme aims at improving their livelihood and financial empowerment to benefit even the poorest female citizens from the EBC category.
For the first time a scheme positioned to benefit women from the OC category, the Andhra Pradesh Government has recognized the need to include this initiative for uplifting women from Economically Backward Classes but belong to the OC category.
Andhra Chief Minister stated that the initiation of this scheme was not an election promise, nor was it in the manifesto, this scheme was brought about with the intention to uplift women from the upper castes.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said “We wholeheartedly pay tribute to our constitution maker, Dr. BR Ambedkar, we are taking steps to fulfill the objectives of the Constitution, during the two-and-a-half years of our administration, we have taken steps to maintain the spirit of the Constitution at every step. Even the upper castes include poor people, we are running this program for their benefit. Today we are depositing Rs 589 crore directly into the accounts of 3.93 thousand women, the program will benefit 45-60-year-old women from Reddy, Kamma, Aryavaishya, Kshatriya, Velama, Brahmin, and other OC communities.”
Under the scheme, the state government will provide Rs 45,000 to women from OC communities between the ages of 45-60 in 3 tranches, that is Rs 15,000 per annum for three years, 3,92,674 women will be benefiting from this scheme. The State government has made huge strides by providing welfare benefits to the women in the state by initiating schemes that are positioned towards them.
The Schemes like Amma Vodi, Swechha (free Sanitary Napkins for Adolescent), YSR Cheyutha (Financial assistance for SC/STs), YSR Aasara, YSR Sunna Vaddi, YSR Pension Kanuka, and the distribution wholesome nutritious food for holistic nutrition (for the health care of pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children) embody the state government’s efforts and endeavoursImage.jpeg to support women of all ages and walks of life.
Paving the path to women empowerment, the Andhra Pradesh Government once will be releasing funds under its revolutionary scheme, YSR EBC NESTHAM, that provides 15,000 per annum to Economically challenged women of Andhra Pradesh hailing from higher castes, aged between 45-60 years.
To ensure that women become self-sufficient, the Andhra Pradesh Government brought out EBC Nestham. These women from OC category families who come from economically unsound circumstances deserve a platform where they can become Financially self-sufficient and support their families in any way they can, YSR EBC Nestham is a scheme designed for these women to improve their livelihood.
The Chief Minister added, “Women empowerment is also of great political importance; since our governance has come to power, Zakia Khan is the first woman Vice Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative council, Pamula Puppasrivani is the deputy Chief Minister, Mekathoti Sucharita is our home minister and We have appointed Neelam Sahni as the first woman Chief Secretary of the State. Also over 51% of nominated posts have been given to women. As a person who strongly believes that if a woman is happy, healthy, and content the community around her will flourish, we are taking steps forward.”
