Waris Punjab De Chiefe Amritpal Singh’s wife Kirandeep Kaur was released after questioning by the on Thursday. Kaur was asked by the police not to leave Amritsar. Earlier in the day, Kirandeep Kaur was allegedly trying to flee to the United Kingdom. She was stopped at the Amritsar Airport by the immigration officials.
Kaur was then questioned by the Immigration Department. The fugitive Khalistani leader has been absconding since March 8 when Punjab Police launched a crackdown against him and his outfit’s elements.
According to reports, the radical leader’s wife was scheduled to board an Air India flight at 2.30 pm, to travel to Birmingham in the UK. She reported to the immigration counters at 12.20 pm and being a Look Out Circular (LOC) subject, the immigration has not permitted her to travel and detained her. On February 10, Amritpal got married to Kaur in a simple ceremony at Jallupur Khera, his native village in Amritsar.
Amritpal Singh has been on the run since March 18 when Punjab Police launched a massive crackdown against Waris Punjab Da chief and his aides. He gave police a slip after his convoy was intercepted in Jalandhar district. Since then, the Waris Punjab de chief changed his hideouts, vehicle and appearances multiple times to evade arrest.
