Union Home Minister Amit Shah took a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying he must take out his “Italian specs” and take a look at the development work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
The home minister is on a two-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh, starting Saturday, to attend various programmes and inaugurate development projects in the state.
On the second day of his visit, Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth Rs 1,000 crores in the Namsai district of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said, “Congress leaders ask what happened in eight years, these people are awake with their eyes closed. Rahul baba must take out his Italian specs and must have a look at the development work done by PM Modi and CM Pema Khandu.
“The work that PM Modi and CM Khandu have done in eight years to increase the tourism of Arunachal, to strengthen the law and order here, to increase the infrastructure and to develop the state Arunachal, it was not done in 50 years,” the home minister said.
In just one day today, development works in Arunachal at a cost of Rs 786 crores are either being completed or are starting, he said.
Earlier on Saturday, Shah attended the golden jubilee celebration of the Ramakrishna Mission.
At the event, he had said that misguided youth from the northeast had in the last eight years surrendered their arms and were contributing to the country’s progress by joining the national mainstream.
“During 2014-2022, PM Modi has ended differences between northeast and Delhi. No one cared about the languages of the northeast but PM has given importance to them. Bodoland issue was resolved. Sixty percent of border-related issues have been resolved between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. The aim is to develop all eight states,” he had said.
