Hours after it was reported that a Mumbai court has denied bail to Raj Kundra and Ryan Thorpe in the porn racket case, it has now come to the fore that the actress and her businessman husband are facing a fine for violating Insider Trading rules.
For the unversed, Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra, who was arrested by the Mumbai Police for allegedly being the ‘key conspirator’ in producing pornographic material was, on July 27, sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
News agency ANI has now reported that SEBI or Securities and Exchange Board of India, which is the regulatory body for securities and commodity market in India under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Finance, has imposed a penalty of Rs 3 lakh on actress Shilpa Shetty, her husband and businessman Raj Kundra, and his company Viaan Industries for violation of its Insider Trading rules.
It was also reported earlier that Shilpa Shetty has not been given a clean chit in the porn case yet. As per an ANI tweet, “Pornography case | Shilpa Shetty hasn’t been given clean chit yet. All possibilities/angles are being probed. Forensic auditors are appointed and they are looking into the transactions of all accounts in this case: Mumbai Crime Branch official.”
Reports stated that when Raj’s house was raided last week, Shilpa broke down during the investigation and also had a huge argument with her husband and asked him the reason behind his acts.
Raj has been charged under Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
