In his address to Congress, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a stern warning that America is next if it doesn’t support him and Israel against the “axis of terror” led by Iran.
“When we fight Hezbollah, we’re fighting Iran. When we fight the Houthis, we’re fighting Iran. And when we fight Iran, we’re fighting the most radical and murderous enemy of the US”, said the Israeli PM.
After almost a year of war between Israel and Hamas which began with the brutal infiltration, bombings, and slaughtering, Netanyahu while addressing the senators and the representatives said that Israel continues its war in Gaza which has been raging since the militant group Hamas killed 1,200 people and 251 others were taken hostage.
Though his speech saw a partial boycott by the Democrats, tech billionaire Elon Musk, who has been quite evidently in support of Israel, was present during the address.
Netanyahu’s speech at the joint meeting of Congress garnered frequent claps from the lawmakers who stood to praise his words on different occasions.
While this was happening in the house, the streets of Washington DC saw amassed pro-Palestine protesters blowing whistles, banging drums and raising slogans against the Israeli PM. Their ‘a day of rage’ turned so disturbing that the cops around the Capital with metal rings and barriers had to move out, spray pepper and make arrests.
To these protesters and demonstrators, Netanyahu called them “Iran’s useful idiots”. Notably, President Biden and VP Kamala Harris were not in the chamber during his speech but a meeting is slated between the PM and the President for Friday.
