Along with BrahMos, UP to become satellite manufacturing hub too: Def Min Rajnath Singh

Formerly seen as a “hindrance” to the nation’s economy, Uttar Pradesh is now India’s main driver of growth. According to Rajnath Singh, the defence minister, the Defense Corridor in Uttar Pradesh is a significant step towards the nation becoming totally self-sufficient in the defence sector.
Minister Singh spoke at a sectoral session at the Global Investors Summit on “Advantage Uttar Pradesh: Defence Corridor, “Complete ‘Indianisation’ of our defence system will be possible only when we use indigenous technology and materials in equipment, parts and manufacturing as well”
“UP will not only manufacture BrahMos, but in the coming years it will also become a hub for satellite development too,” he added, stressing on indigenisation under ‘Aatmanirbhar’ Bharat.
An aerospace business with a base in Hyderabad named Ananth Technologies Ltd (ATL), which offers hardware and software services, is anticipated to invest Rs 3,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh and produce satellites there.
The government will also establish a research and development support base at IIT Kanpur to aid the space industry.
According to Singh, UP is fully capable of reaching any height. “In the coming times, the defence corridor of UP will prove to be the backbone of the country’s strategic power.”
Rajnath also discussed ways the private sector may assist the nation in keeping up with modern technological developments amidst the dynamic state of international security. These include providing free access to government laboratories, transferring technology through DRDO, and allocating one-fourth of the defence research and development (R&D) budget to industry-led R&D.
