The selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar is now eyeing Lucknow Super Giants’ Mayank Yadav, who made a splash in IPL 2024 with his fast bowling. The selectors have shown keen interest in including him in the national team.
This is the reason why he has been included in a special camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to prepare him for the upcoming international assignment. Mayank is currently recovering from an injury he suffered in the IPL this year.
According to the Times of India, Mayank’s recovery is going well. He has not felt any pain for the last one month. This report is a promising sign for the Indian selectors, who are eager to see how ready he is for international cricket.
Mayank May Get A Chance Against Bangladesh
Regarding him, a BCCI source said, ‘Mayank has not complained of any pain for the last one month. He is bowling well at the NCA. The selectors are interested to see how prepared he is for international cricket. Considering the long Test season ahead, the selectors are keen to try new faces in the T20 International series against Bangladesh. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah may be rested in the series and Mayank may get a chance in his place.’
May Get A Chance In The Test Series Against New Zealand
Apart from the T20 series, Mayank is also in the race to make it to the team for the Test series against New Zealand. The selectors want to try him in Test cricket as well, even though he has not played Ranji Trophy cricket for Delhi yet this season.
The coming months are going to be very important for Mayank Yadav, where his target will be to achieve success in international cricket after the IPL.
