‘All criminals are inducted into Bajrang Dal’: Ashok Gehlot’s minister triggers controversy

Rajasthan MP and one of Ashok Gehlot’s key ministers Govind Meghawal  stirred a massive political controversy following his contentious remark on Bajrang Dal, a right-wing subsidiary of the pro-Hindu group Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
While talking to the media, Meghwal, who holds Disaster Management and Relief, said “all the wanted criminals in Rajasthan are inducted into Bajrang Dal.”
The Bajrang Dal is a Hindu organisation that forms the youth wing of the Vishva Hindu Parishad. It is a member of the right-wing Sangh Parivar.
The minister made the remark in reference to the latest Bolero killing case in which two Muslim youths were kidnapped and murdered and later the corpse was burnt inside a Bolero car. The victim’s family alleged that a popular Bajrang Dal leader was involved in kidnapping and killing the men.
Referring to the incident, Meghwal added, “these most wanted criminals are inducted into Bajrang Dal and then they go on to kidnap and kill innocent people on the suspicion of cow slaughter or smuggling.”
The minister also talked about the recently introduced ‘Agniveer’ scheme and said that it will make the armed forces of India weaker.
Last month, two skeletons were found in a burnt four-wheeler. The car’s engine registration number was traced to a missing person’s FIR registered in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur. FIR was filed in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur, claiming that two men, Nasir and Junaid, were abducted and killed.
The victims’ families were kidnapped by members of Bajrang Dal, a right-wing Hindu outfit. A case was registered against five people who are at large.
