Known for his nuanced choice of films, Akshay Oberoi is the blue-eyed boy of Hindi cinema who seems to be reaching new feats every single year. And seems like 2022 is proving to be quite an eventful year for the actor because of his multiple releases.
From Vikram Bhatt’s Judaa Hoke Bhi to Gaslight alongside Vikrant Massey and Sara Ali Khan and more, Akshay has quite a long list of projects to boast of. But have you ever wondered whether the pressure of the box office ever gets to him?
In a scenario where the masses have started to judge the success of a film by its box office numbers, Akshay Oberoi recently chimed in with his own two cents about the entire ordeal. Confessing that he has started to realise why delivering a box office hit is a must for him, the actor revealed the sole reason why he wants it in the first place.
“If you look at my own career I have gotten a lot of critical acclaim and a lot of celebration from the industry and from critics and journalists and media. But I don’t have any box office hit,” Akshay states while keeping it a 100% real in his chat with Times Now Digital.
Of course, there are many movies that go on to become cinema gems despite performing poorly when it comes to raking in money. But, Akshay personally feels that to get to the next stage in his career, a box office hit seems to be the next step.
“Cinema is an art made for the audience. You have to have hits to get to that next bump so for me, that’s the only reason that matters. Because the day I deliver a massive massive 100 cr film, which god willing I will, the doors will open more. And then I get to play more parts, and have more characters at my disposal, and have more directors to choose from, and more scripts to choose from. That is the only reason why it’s important to me,” he says.
When it comes to measuring the success of a film, according to him, the experience while filming is above and beyond everything else.
Elaborating on the same, Akshay states,” Otherwise the only metric of success for me in a film is the experience in making that film. Some of the best experiences I have had making movies have been films that haven’t done well.”
With an interesting line-up of projects awaiting him, we sure can’t wait to see what the future has in store for Akshay!
