Union Law Minister and BJP leader Kiren Rijiju accused Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav of insulting Lord Buddha by allegedly not accepting his bust at an Uttar Pradesh election 2022 rally in Kaushambhi.
Rijiju tweeted a video in which a Samajwadi Party leader was seen presenting Yadav a statue of Lord Buddha, while the latter apparently asking that it be kept backstage. The alleged incident happened few days ago during an UP election 2022 election rally in Kaushambi.
I knew that Akhilesh Yadav was never serious about the sentiments of Dalits, but this open insult of Lord Buddha is an insult of India’s ethos,” the Kiren Rijiju tweeted in Hindi.
Uttar Pradesh election 2020 are being held in seven phases, out of which four phases have already been conducted. The fifth phase of voting will take place on February 27. The polling in sixth and seventh phases of UP election is scheduled on March 3 and 7 respectively.
Notably, BSP president Mayawati on Wednesday claimed SP doesn’t enjoy support of the Muslims.
“Members of the religious minorities, the Muslims, have been unhappy with the working style of Samajwadi Party. They believe that even when they had been with it since last five years, when the time came to allot tickets, they were sidelined to make space for others,” Mayawati said.
The BSP chief termed Yadav “nakli Ambedkarvadi” and accused the previous SP regime of harassing Dalits, backwards, poor and Brahmins.
Mayawati also thanked Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah for recently acknowledging that BSP has maintained its relevance and will get votes in UP polls 2022.
