Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav came face to face at a wedding event in Lucknow.
According to a report by ANI, the two leaders did not talk to each other, however, another report by PTI quoting PSP chief spokesperson Deepak Mishra said the two leaders attended the wedding ceremony of Jagmohan Yadav’s niece Amrita in Lucknow on Monday night and greeted each other with “namaskar”.
The rift between the two was evident and in a video clip gone viral, after spotting his uncle, who heads Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party-Lohia (PSPL), Akhilesh Yadav moved ahead swiftly.
‘My uncle has a soft spot for BJP’
Shivpal Singh Yadav had contested the assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh earlier this year as Samajwadi Party candidate and won the polls.
The duo had patched up before the assembly polls but the rift between them has been evident from their recent statements. Shivpal Singh Yadav had met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath in March.
Responding to this, Akhilesh Yadav had suggested that his uncle has a soft spot for BJP.
‘If BJP wants to take my uncle then they should better go for it’
“If the BJP wants to take my uncle (Shivpal Yadav) then they should better go for it, why are they delaying it? I have no discontent with him. The BJP should rather say why they are happy?” the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister had said.
In reply to this remark by the SP chief, Shivpal Yadav dared Akhilesh Yadav to expel him and said when right time comes, he will tell about his decision.
He also criticised the SP for not inviting him to the meeting in which Akhilesh Yadav was elected the party leader.
Shivpal Yadav had also met SP leader Azam Khan in jail last month and accused SP of not doing enough for him.
