Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane and his wife Radhika Dhopavkar became parents for the second time. Rahane took to social media on Wednesday, October 5 to share the news as the couple has been blessed with a baby boy.
“This morning, Radhika and I welcomed our baby boy into the world. Both Radhika and the baby are doing well and are completely healthy. We’d like to thank you for all your love and blessings,” Rahane shared the news on Twitter and Instagram.
Rahane, who has been out-of-favour for the Indian Test team, had made a comeback after an injury in the recently concluded Duleep Trophy. Rahane hadn’t played a competitive game since IPL 2022 after sustaining a hamstring injury playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Coming back after more than three months, Rahane led West Zone to their record 19th Duleep Trophy title. A side that featured the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jaydev Unadkat was too strong for its opponents as they beat South Zone by 294 runs in the final.
Before the tournament started, Rahane had mentioned that his focus was on Duleep Trophy rather than thinking about future and India comeback. Rahane smashed 250 runs in three matches including an unbeaten 207. Rahane will now lead Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Mumbai boasts of the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Prithvi Shaw, Sarfaraz Khan and Shardul Thakur- among others and are one of the top title contenders of the domestic T20 competition.
