It’s a huge day for the team of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. Ajay Devgn, along with Om Raut took on the challenge to tell the tale of a warrior and his battle with Udaybhan Singh Rathore, an aid working with Mughal ruler Aurangazeb. The period drama was headlined by Ajay and his performance in the movie was lauded when it released in January 2020.
And today, the actor has received the 68th National Film Best Actor Award for his outstanding portrayal of Tanhaji. Ajay shares the award with Tail film industry’s superstar Suriya for his role in Soorarai Pottru. While being honoured by the government of India is always special, this Award holds a bigger place in Ajay’s heard as it marks his third win at the National Film Awards.
Ajay was first awarded the Rajat Kamal for Zakhm and then for The Legend of Bhagat Singh. Moreover, Tanhaji was Ajay’s 100th film in a career spanning over 30 years.
The actor interacted with Pinkvilla and went on to share his first reaction. He said, “I’m elated to win the Best Actor Award for Tanhaji—The Unsung Warrior at the 68th National Awards along with Suriya who won for Soorarai Pottru. I thank everyone, most of all my creative team, the audience and my fans. I also express my gratitude to my parents & the Almighty for their blessings. Congratulations to all the other winners.”
While Ajay essays the titular role, Saif essays the role of the antagonist. Kajol went on to essay the role of Ajay’s on-screen wife too. Sharad Kelkar, Luke Kenny and Sanjay Mishra went on to add their charm to this film as well.
