The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced a new organization structure for Gujarat with over 850 office bearers and said it is ready for a direct fight with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Assembly elections, slated to be held later this year.
This comes days after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led party dissolved its organisational structure in the state on Wednesday (June 8). Following this, all party positions at the state, district, taluka levels, and frontal organizations were dissolved. Dissolving its state unit, the party had said that the move was taken with an aim to defeat the BJP, which has been in power in the state for over two decades.
In the new organizational structure, the AAP has appointed Kishorbhai Desai as the state president (frontal organisation), Manoj Sorathiya as state general secretary, and Kailash Gadhvi as treasurer.
The party has also appointed Isudan Gadhvi as its national joint general secretary and Indranil Rajguru as the national joint secretary.
“MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT AAP announces a New Organization structure for Gujarat with over 850 office bearers. Shri @isudan_gadhvi has been appointed as the National Joint General Secretary & Shri Indranil Rajguru has been appointed as the National Joint Secretary. Best wishes,” the party tweeted, along with the list of new office-bearers.
As per the list released by the party, a total of 850 AAP members have found a place in the restructured organisation in Gujarat.
The AAP has also appointed presidents and vice presidents of various wings, secretaries, joint secretaries at the state level, Lok Sabha and district pramukhs, and Vidhan Sabha sangathan mantris, according to the list shared by the party.
Talking to reporters, AAP’s Gujarat in-charge Sandeep Pathak claims that lakhs of people have joined the party and more than 30,000 people have taken its active membership during the party’s recent ‘parivartan yatra’ and village-level meetings.
The political fight is going to be between the BJP and the AAP this time, Pathak said.
