After Sarfaraz Khan, another Mumbai player sends a message to selectors; slams more than 300 runs in Irani Cup

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been knocking on the doors of Team India for a couple of seasons now and he has sent another reminder to the national selectors about his abilities and capabilities. After scoring 315 runs for Mumbai in five Ranji Trophy matches, Yashasvi was named in the Rest of India squad for Irani Cup.
While all eyes were on the likes of Mayank Agarwal, Abhimanyu Easwaran and other capped players, Yashasvi hogged the limelight by piling up more than 300 runs in the fixture. The left-handed batsman slammed a stupendous 259-ball 213 in the first innings.
If that wasn’t enough, Yashasvi slammed a century in the 2nd innings as well and is batting solidly. The left-handed batsman received little support from the other end as Rest of India hadn’t even breached the 200-run mark when Yashasvi reached his century. They lost their fifth wicket at a score of 122.
After Sarfaraz Khan, Yashasvi is another player from Mumbai who has put himself in contention to be part of the Test team and it will be tough for selectors to keep him out for a long time. The presence of regulars has seen Sarfaraz being ignored. The in-form batsman is in the form of life for more than a year but hasn’t been called up to the Test squad yet. He isn’t playing Irani Cup due to a finger injury.
Talking of Yashasvi, he is surely in contention as the youngster was part of India A squad during the Bangladesh series. He kicked off the unofficial Test series with a century and was dismissed for 12 in the second unofficial Test match.
Apart from Yashasvi and Sarfaraz, Abhimanyu Easwaran is another player who is waiting for his opportunity. He replaced Rohit Sharma for the Bangladesh Test series but is uncapped. The right-handed batsman led India A against Bangladesh A and slammed back-to-back centuries. He hit a ton in the first innings of the Irani Cup as well.
