Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were severely hit by heavy rains driven by low-pressure system in the coastal areas at the end of August. Heavy downpours were followed by waterlogging and floods in September which consequently devastated many towns and villages and forced hundreds to evacuate and move to safer places. Financial assistance from the Adani Group comes a day after the state CM Chandrababu Naidu announced compensation for flood victims.
