Himachal Pradesh is set to go to elections later this year. Seeking to turn the tables here like it has done in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party is taking out all possible weapons from its armoury to woo the voters of the hill state.
The party, which first formed the government in Delhi, on Wednesday promised free and quality education for students of Himachal Pradesh if it manages to form the government here.
The AAP has given five guarantees to the people of the state in the field of education. The party has promised that all Himachal schools will be transformed and upgraded on the lines of Delhi; curbs will be imposed on private schools so that they cannot hike fees arbitrarily; temporary teachers will be regularised; vacant posts of teacher will be filled; and teachers won’t be given any non-teaching work.
The guarantees to the electorate of Himachal Pradesh were given today on behalf of the AAP by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The announcements were made in Shimla.
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak and Himachal unit chief Surjeet Thakur were also present on the occasion.
AAP launches national mission
AAP announced guarantees for Himachal Pradesh on a day when its national convenor Arvind Kejriwal announced the party’s national mission to make India the number one country in the world. While launching the mission, Kejriwal asked all citizens and political parties to join the AAP in realising the dream.
Kejriwal said on the occasion that providing free education and healthcare to citizens, employment to youths, equal rights and dignity to women and fair price to farmers for their produce were key pillars of the national mission.
The AAP de-facto chief is slated to travel across India to enlist the support of people for the ‘Make India No 1’ initiative and achieve its objectives.
“This is not the mission of a political party, it’s a national mission. I call upon the BJP and all other parties to come forward and join this initiative to make India the number one country in the world,” the Delhi CM said.
Kejriwal said many countries like Singapore achieved independence after India but are ahead of us at present. Why has India lagged behind despite Indians being the “most intelligent and hard working in the world”, he asked
