Aamir Khan tears up as he recalls his late father’s financial struggle: ‘Abba jaan never had money’

Actor Aamir Khan, a perfectionist in Bollywood, recently opened up about his family’s financial health while he was growing up. The actor is currently on a break from acting but is still invested in his production house and is following the steps of his late father Tahir Hussain and uncle Nasir Hussain, who were well-known producers in the Indian film industry.
While many believed that the actor was well-cushioned financially during his childhood, such was not the case.
AAMIR KHAN OPENS UP ON HIS FATHER’S FINANCIAL WOES
In an interview, Aamir Khan said that while everyone assumed that his family led a luxurious life, his father struggled with money. He said that some monetary decisions made by his father Tahir Hussain did not reap results, as expected.
Recalling his father’s struggles, the Laal Singh Chaddha actor broke down in tears and took some time to compose himself.
He told Humans of Bombay, “Thing that would trouble us most was Abba Jaan ko dekh ke (seeing our father). Because he was a very simple man. Maybe he didn’t have enough sense that he should not have taken so much loan.” He further added that due to the film tickets getting sold in black, producers would often not get their dues. Aamir also said that though his father’s few films worked, but he “never had the money”.
“Unko problem mein dekh ke takleef hoti thi kyuki un logon ke phone aate the jinse paise liye hain. Unka jhagda shuru hojata tha phone pe ki ‘main kya karu, mere paas paise nahi hai. Meri film atki hai, mere actors ko boliye dates dein mujhe, main kya karu.’ (So it would hurt us seeing him in trouble. Because lenders used to call us. We would hear him fighting with people on the phone, telling them ‘what do I do, my film is stuck. Tell the actors to give me dates),” he continued.
Despite the financial crunch, Aamir’s father still made sure to return everyone’s money. He further recalled how Mahesh Bhatt was surprised when he finally received money back for a film as he gave up all his expectations to get it back. Aamir also remembered that despite the financial losses, his father always paid his school fees and his mother used to buy extra long pants for him and his brother Faisal so that they can be used for a longer time.
AAMIR’S PRODUCTION HOUSE
Aamir Khan launched his production house in 1999 and produced some successful films such as Lagaan, TaareHe Zameen Par, Dangal, and Delhi Belly, among others.
AAMIR ON WORK FRONT
Aamir Khan was last seen in the official Hindi remake of Forrest GrumpLaal Singh Chaddha, alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan. The film, however, bombed at the box office. Aamir will be working as a producer and not an actor, at least for the next year and a half.
He said, “I am looking at the next year and a half in which I am not actually working as an actor and I will be working as a producer.”
