Rohit Sharma might be ready to make a comeback to the top order for India in the third Test against Australia at Gabba, Brisbane. At practice, Rohit was seen handling the new ball, while KL Rahul faced the semi-new ball. A practice with the new ball by Rohit suggests he may return to the opening slot.

KL Rahul Retained His Opening Slot In Adelaide

Despite Rohit’s return to the XI for the second Test at Adelaide Oval, KL Rahul retained his spot as the opener. Rohit, who missed the first Test in Perth due to injury, was moved down to number six. Rahul performed well in the first Test, with a solid 37 runs in the first innings, prompting Rohit to sacrifice his usual opening position.

What Will Be Rohit Sharma’s Batting Position in Third Test?

With the speculations growing, it seems that Rohit could regain his opening slot in the third Test with Rahul shifting down the order. This speculation gained momentum after India’s practice session recently where Rohit replaced Rahul in the nets and faced the new ball from bowlers like Bumrah, Siraj, and Akash Deep. This was in contrast to the build-up for the second Test where Rohit did not face the new ball.

KL Rahul & Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Partnership In Nets

KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal started their net session. Rohit Sharma initially practiced in the slips. He soon replaced Rahul and began hitting the new ball, an important sign that the third Test might see a change in the batting order. Rahul was later seen practicing with Virat Kohli, and both were facing the semi-new ball.
