Alia Bhatt was excited about her 2024 big release Jigra, however, the film badly tanked at the box office. While there was no obvious reason as to why a decently made film did not get noticed by the audience, despite a stellar cast comprising Alia, Vedang Raina, Manoj Pahwa and Vivek Gomber, controversies surrounding the film could be blamed to an extent.

But here is a good news for everyone! The film is all set to release on OTT streaming platform Netflix. The web release will give Vasan Bala directorial a new lease of life as more audience across the world would be able to watch it from the comfort of their homes starting December 6. To announce the release date, Netflix’s official handle posted a poster of the movie and wrote, “Phoolon aur taaron ne kaha hai, ulti ginti shuru karlo ✨ Jigra is arriving tomorrow on Netflix.”

Jigra Controversy

The film got embroiled in controversies after actor Divya Khosla Kumar accused the makes of Jigra of plagiarism. Divya pointed out the similarities between Jigra and her film Savi and revealed the – which shows the story of a woman, fighting against all odds to save her husband trapped in the jail of England.

That’s not all, Divya also took to her Instagram stories to call out makers for buying tickets of their own movie and faking box office numbers. “Alia doesn’t need to resort to such tactics; she’s already well-established. But true heroism is in speaking against wrongdoing. Let the audience decide based on merit, not money and power,” she told Hindustan Times in an interview, post the controversy.
