Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai . Das experienced acidity and was under observation, sources said.
Sharing an update on his health, RBI spokesperson told ANI, “He is now doing fine and will be discharged in the next 2 to 3 hours. There is no cause for concern.” He was being monitored, sources said without disclosing details. No immediate official information was provided from the hospital.
IAS Retd. Shaktikanta Das IAS Retd., who held several roles such as former Secretary of the Department of Revenue and Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, assumed office as the 25th Governor of the RBI from December 12, 2018.
According to the RBI press release, Shaktikanta Das has vast experience in various areas of governance in the past 38 years. Shri Das has also held important positions in the Central & State Governments in the areas of Finance, Taxation, Industries, Infrastructure.
During his term in the Ministry of Finance, GOI, he was directly associated with the preparation of as many as 8 Union Budgets. He has also served as India’s Alternate Governor in the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), New Development Bank (NDB) and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). He has even proudly represented India in international fora like the IMF, G20, BRICS, SAARC, etc.
Shaktikanta Das is a postgraduate from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University.
