This move comes hours after Trump’s first pick, Matt Gaetz, the firebrand congressman withdrew his name. According to reports, he ended his consideration for the post amid an ongoing federal sex trafficking investigation.
In a statement, Gaetz announced, “There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I’ll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General.” He further assured that he will remain fully committed and witness Donald J. Trump as the most successful President in history.
Who Is Pam Bondi?
Pam Bondi, Trump’s close ally for a long time was one of his lawyers during the first impeachment trial against him for allegedly trying to negotiate US military aid to Ukraine. Reports revealed that she has also chaired the America First Policy Institute, the think tank that former Trump administration officials founded. A native of Tampa, she is the first woman to serve as Florida’s attorney general and has 18 years of experience as a prosecutor.
