‘Rockstar’ is one of the most popular Hindi movies of all time and has gained cult classic status over the years. The movie, starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, has completed 13 years since its release and is still a fan-favourite. Sanjana Sanghi, who played the role of Mandy Kaul, has penned a heartfelt note on Instagram as ‘Rockstar’ completes 13 years.
Celebrating the anniversary of ‘Rockstar’, Sanjana wrote on Instagram, “our 11•11•11 anniversary | The day that changed the course of my life, forever. 13 years later, sitting here having my morning chai in my home in Mumbai, staring at this stunning first print poster up in my living room, from the day of Rockstar’s release – before I rush off to set. Little Mandy may never have been able to visualise this for herself. To Rockstar, and the most precious people & memories it has given me, forever & ever.”
Directed by Imtiaz Ali, ‘Rockstar’ also stars Nargis Fakhri in the lead role with Aditi Rao Hydari, Piyush Mishra, Shernaz Patel, Kumud Mishra, Aakash Dahiya, and Shammi Kapoor in pivotal roles. The movie revolves around a college student Janardhan, who wants to get heartbroken to get inspiration for his music. When he achieves his goal, it leads to the path of self-destruction.
Earlier, while speaking to Netflix India’s YouTube channel during the promotion of ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’, Imtiaz Ali revealed that he has fought with the fans of ‘Rockstar’ because he called his movie ‘flawed’.
He shared, “I have a lot of critics around me. It gets me into trouble sometimes but when I get genuine feedback, it really helps. You have to process the criticism by yourself and sometimes you criticise yourself. The way your criticise yourself, no one else does it that way. I have fought with Rockstar fans. They got upset that how dare I say that there was some fault in the film. Like once, I said that it was a flawed film.”
Released in 2011, ‘Rockstar’ became one of the highest-grossing movies of that year.
