The West Indies have announced their team for the first two T20Is against England, to be played from November 9. Several star players, who had missed last month’s series against Sri Lanka, have been recalled for the tour. Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Andre Russell, and Akeal Hosein have all been named, which means that the team has gained in strength ahead of the crucial series.
Alzarri Joseph Suspension And Replacement With Matthew Forde
West Indies have dropped fast-bowler Alzarri Joseph and replaced him with emerging pacer Matthew Forde. Alzarri was handed a two-match suspension after he sparked an on-field altercation during the third ODI between the two teams where he showed discontent over the field placement set by captain Shai Hope.
He walked off the field for a while but then returned, only to be suspended for his gestures during the game. Forde, who performed well to impress in the ODI series, earned the Player of the Series award after returning eight wickets at an impressive average of 16.38.
Senior Players Return, Youngsters Left Out
A few from the original set will be left out of the comeback of Pooran, Hetmyer, Russell, and Hosein. Some notable absentees are Fabian Allen, Alick Athanaze, Andre Fletcher, and Shamar Springer for the T20I matches.
West Indies Batting Line-Up
The West Indies batting unit is stacked with experience and firepower, having a star-studded top order consisting of batsmen like Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Brandon King, Evin Lewis, and Captain Rovman Powell. Middle and lower order will then feature Andre Russell, Roston Chase, Romario Shepherd, and Sherfane Rutherford to add to depth and balance in their batting line-up.
Pace Attack And Spin Options For West Indies
Shamar Joseph, Terrance Hinds, and Matthew Forde will make up the seam attack. Akeal Hosein and Gudakesh Motie will spearhead the spin bowling, giving the West Indies a fair balance in their attack.
