Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge said that ‘One Nation, One Election’ is impossible. Kharge’s reaction came on the statement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding ‘One Nation, One Election’ and Secular Civil Code. He said that when the bill comes into the Parliament then Prime Minister has to take everybody into confidence, then only it will happen. Kharge further added that it is impossible; ‘One Nation, One Election is impossible,’ he stressed.
He also cited the reason for his ‘Impossible’ remark. Speaking to ANI, Kharge said, it’s not possible as there are several states, several problems and regional parties are there. Referring to PM Modi’s statement, he said that the PM is telling everything simply which is not possible.
Furthermore, Kharge targeted PM Modi over unemployment. He said when he (Prime Minister) can’t give two crores employment which is in his hands, how will he do this. He questioned PM Modi and asked about 15 lakhs which the PM had promised to give to everybody. “Where is his money, he can’t do,” said Kharge.
He said that the PM is not doing anything which he is supposed to and can do. He added that PM Modi is saying all these things to fool the people.
PM Modi On ‘One Nation, One Election’
Addressing the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations, PM Modi had said, “We are now working towards One Nation One Election, which will strengthen India’s democracy, give optimum outcome of India’s resources and the country will gain new momentum in achieving the dream of a developed India. Today, India is moving towards One Nation One Civil Code that is a Secular Civil Code…”
During his speech, he reinstated government’s decision to introduce ‘One Nation, One Election’ in the country. This initiative aims to synchronize all elections in the country either on a single day or within a specific time frame. He added that this would be introduced in the winter session of Parliament. PM further emphasised that this will help to achieve the dream of a developed India. He highlighted various schemes and initiatives that support and foster national unity.
