Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Abhimanyu Easwaran Shines With 4th Consecutive FC Ton Despite No India Call-Up

Abhimanyu Easwaran, the former India A captain again has been ignored for the Indian squad for the three-match Test series against New Zealand, continued his rich vein of form. Opening for Bengal on day two of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match against Uttar Pradesh at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, he is currently on 114 runs off 141 balls and has scored his fourth successive century.

No India Call-Up For Abhimanyu Easwaran

Now, 29-year-old Easwaran, still waiting for his India A debut, he had a subdued session in the first innings, scoring just five runs off 17 balls. The splendid effort in Ranji Trophy 2024-25 was preceded by two successive centuries for India B in Duleep Trophy last month, followed by that 191 against Mumbai in the Irani Cup at the same grounds was something. He has also notched an unbeaten 157 against India C and slammed 116 against India D in Anantapur.

Abhimanyu Easwaran is not a part of the 15-member Indian team for the first Test against New Zealand is set to start tomorrow (October 16) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Easwaran A Strong Contender For India’s Test Team

Even if Easwaran had found a way into the Test team, his opportunities would have been scarce as captain Rohit Sharma opens alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has impressed since his debut against the West Indies in July 2023. Nevertheless, Easwaran’s stunning form certainly puts him in the driver’s seat to be part of the India A team that will face Australia A in the two-match series starting October 31 at Great Barrier Reef Arena, Mackay.

Abhimanyu Easwaran hit his 4th consecutive century in First-Class Cricket, the 29-year old has averaged 70-plus this year and scored more than 1000 runs in just 16 innings.
