Musheer Khan, the younger brother of Indian cricket star Sarfaraz Khan, met with an accident in Uttar Pradesh, reports Times of India. The promising young player of Mumbai suffered a fracture while traveling with his father and coach Naushad Khan, from Kanpur to Lucknow for the Irani Cup.
The 19-year-old Musheer is gaining recognition in the cricketing world, making waves with 181 for India C in the Duleep Trophy against a strong India A team featuring Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal. Nine first-class matches are his experience and great promise this season end.
Musheer’s accident has meant that he will miss out on the Irani Cup tie at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow against the Rest of India from October 1-5, and he may also sit out the early rounds of the Ranji Trophy when they start from October 11. Sources have been hinting at him having been suffering from a neck injury, and that he may miss out for up to three months.
Musheer, it is reported, did not travel with the Mumbai team but was traveling from Azamgarh to Lucknow. He had, however, been preparing for a shadow tour of Australia, leading India A. He features in three ‘four-day’ Tests at the end. The season has certainly had its remarkable moments.
There has been that double hundred in the Ranji quarter-final and a century at the final, all of which are aligning him with some of the emerging lights in Indian cricket.
