Marvel Cinematics Universe’s film Deadpool and Wolverine did wonders at the box office this year, becoming biggest R-rated movie of all time and Marvel’s second billion-dollar release since Avengers: Endgame. And now, the makers have set their eyes of the biggest and most prestigious awards – Oscars – for the movie. As per an exclusive report by Variety, Marvel Studios is campaigning for Oscar nominations for 2025.
Besides the main categories, the production house will also attempt to get Deadpool and Wolverine nomination in technical categories, including production design, sound, and visual effects.
Not Just The Oscars…
The report further revealed that Deadpool and Wolverine Makers are also vying for Golden Globes in the comedy categories. In addition to that, Ryan Reynolds is up for Best Actor consideration whereas Hugh Jackman will be submitted for Best Supporting Actor recognition in Oscars, Golden Globes, SAG Awards and Critics Choice Awards. The Phase 5 movie will also be targeting nominations in the technical categories, which ranges from visual effects to production design.
Digital Release Date Announced
Amid the Oscars anticipation, the digital release date of the film has been announced. Deadpool and Wolverine can be rented or purchased on OTT platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV+ October 1 onwards. The 4kBlue-ray and DVDs for the film, however, will be available from October 22. Both digital and physical versions will be released with special features including the deleted scenes from the film, gag reels, and commentary by the director Shawn levy.
Star-Studded Cast
Deadpool & Wolverine boasts a stellar cast, which includes Emma Corrin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Morena Baccarin, Aaron Stanford and Matthew Macfadyen. Actos like Chris Evans, Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Garner and Channing Tatum also make surprise appearances during the film.
