With increasing demand for extensive investigation in Tirupati Laddu adulteration case, The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a show cause notice to AR Dairy Food Private Limited.
AR Dairy Food Private Limited is one of the suppliers of ghee for making Tirupati Prasad since last four years. The sample of AR Dairy had failed to meet the parameters of testing.
The show cause notice said that the samples of AR Dairy has failed to meet the parameters and the firm has been blacklisted by EO, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). The notice stated, “By virtue of the above non-conformance of the product ‘Ghee’ manufactured by your firm which is not meeting the standards, you have contravened the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, Rules and Regulations made there under”.
“To show cause as to why, your Central License shall not be suspended for contravention of the above said provisions of the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulation, 2011. The reply in this regard shall be sent by 23.09.2024 failing which suitable action will be initiated as per the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 and Regulations made there under,” the notice added.
The firm has denied the allegation of sending adulterated ghee to the temple. The dairy has assured that their ghee is uncontaminated. They have been sending ghee for years but no complaint about the quality was ever received.
Speaking to ANI, Leni, A.R. Dairy Foods’ quality checking department incharge said, “We have been consistently supplying ghee to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams through AR Dairy Foods from June to July. However, at present, we are not giving ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. With over 25 years of experience in ghee production, we have never received any complaints or quality issues to date.”
Kanan, official of AR Dairy Foods’ quality checking department also said, “Samples have been collected from the Food Safety Department, and we have already sent samples to the Tirupati Devasthanam laboratory. The lab has conducted tests and found no irregularities. There was a rumour about defects in the ghee sent in June and July, but the Food Safety Department and Agmark officials visited, collected samples, and found no issues. Our ghee is pure, and we have samples. We invite anyone to conduct tests at any laboratory they prefer.”
