Adani Group, one of the biggest industry groups across Asia, has contributed a sum of Rs. 25 crore through its CSR vertical Adani Foundation, to support Andhra Pradesh which is reeling from severe floods after heavy rains since last month.

Raising concern over the natural calamity, the chairman of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani posted on X, “Deeply troubled by the extensive damage caused by the recent torrential rains and flooding in Andhra Pradesh. The Adani Group stands in solidarity with the people of Andhra Pradesh and humbly extends our support through the @AdaniFoundation with a contribution of Rs 25 Cr to the relief effort.” He also shared a picture of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Managing Director of Adani Ports and SEZ Limited (APSEZ) Karan Adani holding a document, supposedly about financial assistance.

Retweeting the post, Karan Adani, the MD of the APSEZ wrote on X, “Privileged to contribute towards the relief efforts led by Hon’ble @AndhraPradeshCM 🙏🏽 Our hearts are with the people as they rebuild their lives and livelihoods.”

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were severely hit by heavy rains driven by low-pressure system in the coastal areas at the end of August. Heavy downpours were followed by waterlogging and floods in September which consequently devastated many towns and villages and forced hundreds to evacuate and move to safer places. Financial assistance from the Adani Group comes a day after the state CM Chandrababu Naidu announced compensation for flood victims.
