Ananya Panday made her web series debut with ‘Call Me Bae’ and received praise for her performance. The series ended on a big cliffhanger, leaving the viewers wondering if Bae chose Neel or Agastya. ‘Call Me Bae’ has officially been renewed for the second season and Prime Video has also dropped an exciting video of the star cast to this announcement.
Sharing the news, Prime Video wrote, “Our day couldn’t get any bae-tter. Bella is coming to swoon us over again with a new season. #CallMeBaeOnPrime, S2 in development.”
The plot focuses on Bella aka Bae, a heiress abandoned by her family after a scandal. She has to go to Mumbai to start a new life for herself.
Talking about her character, Ananya earlier said in a statement, “As an actor, it is always exciting and rewarding to play a multi-layered character like Bae. There’s more to Bae than what meets the eye and that is what makes her journey compelling and intriguing. Despite the challenges, she remains true to herself, retaining her innocence and zest for life.”
She added, “This authenticity is what drew me to the role. This is my first long-format original series and I couldn’t have asked for a better director than Collin or a more supportive cast. I am thrilled to be collaborating with Prime Video and Dharmatic Entertainment for the series and I’m looking forward to introducing Bae to audiences worldwide from September 6.”
The series also stars Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Muskkaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Lisa Mishra and Mini Mathur. The first season of ‘Call Me Bae’ is available to watch in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada as well.
On the work front, Ananya will next star in the Netflix movie ‘CTRL’, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. The movie has Ananya’s ‘Call Me Bae’ co-star Vihaan Samat.
