A night drive by two serving young Army officers along with their female friends turned into a horrific attack near the historic Jam Gate, 50km away from Indore, MP. In the early hours of Wednesday, they were being trapped by a gang of men who raped one woman at the gunpoint.

Details Of The Attack And Response
According to Additional SP Rupesh Dwivedi, the identified attackers so far include six suspects and two have been detained from the jungles around. Army officers undergoing Young Officers course at Infantry School, Mhow, were injured in the attack. One of the officers called up his senior officers, but before the police could reach there from Mhow, 30km away, the woman was assaulted.

Incident At Jam Gate

The shocking incident occurred at 2:30 am on Tuesday night. The team had parked their car near Ahilya Gate, which is generally frequented for its scenic beauty and the temple. When 6-7 men attacked, one officer and his female friend were inside the car. The other officer and his female friend were on a hillock nearby and rushed down hearing the commotion.

The attackers held the hostages in the car and demanded Rs 10 lakh as ransom. This, in turn, allowed the officer to escape the car and inform his seniors about the incident, sending an alert across police channels.

Police Action And Medical Examination
Despite the quick response from the police, the attackers fled into the nearby forest. The victims were taken to Mhow Civil Hospital around 6:30 am, where the medical tests confirmed gang rape. Both the officers were injured, and further, the complainant reported that the group was also robbed.

Legal Actions And Ongoing Investigation

Badgonda police have registered the case under sections 376, 395, 384 and 323 of the IPC, apart from sections under the Arms Act. A joint team of police from four stations was combing the jungles near Chhoti Jaam village where the incident took place. For now, two suspects have been arrested.
