The mother of the Kolkata rape victim accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of lying over denial that she offered financial assistance to the victim’s family. Victim’s mother claimed that Banerjee did offer monetary compensation after the crime occurred.
“The Chief Minister is lying. My daughter will not come back, so why would I lie in her name?” the victim’s mother said, as reported by ANI. She further said that Chief Minister told them that they would get money and something could be made in her daughter’s memory. The mother said she replied that she would collect the money after her daughter gets justice.
Kolkata Police Accused Of Trying To Cover Up Case
Earlier, parents of the victim had said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, after visiting their house in Panihati, North 24 Parganas, on August 12, had offered them money. Victim’s father and aunt also accused Kolkata Police of trying to cover up the case and offering them money to keep mum.
Soon after the victim’s mother’s statement, several BJP leaders came out in support of her and shared videos showing both of Mamata Banerjee’s statements. Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari termed the Bengal Chief Minister a “liar” and termed it unfortunate for the Bengalis to have her as their leader.
It’s unfortunate for the Bengalis that someone like you-a liar-is the Chief Minister. How many more lies will you tell? Stop now,” Suvendu Adhikari said in an X post.
Mamata Banerjee Is Fighting Against People Of WB: Suvendu Adhikari
Suvendu Adhikari shared a collage of videos of Mamata Banerjee’s earlier statements and what she claimed on September 9. “Mamata Banerjee is fighting against the people of West Bengal. After telling people to avoid protests and focus on celebrations, she went further to suppress the spontaneous movement for justice,” said Adhikari in a post.
